Trump Administration Threatening the National Endowment for the Arts

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The Trump Administration has released its budget for fiscal year 2018 which seeks again to eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (N.E.A.). The N.E.A. is an independent Federal Agency whose funding and support gives people the opportunity to participate in the arts, exercise their imaginations, and develop their creative capacities. Through partnerships with State Arts Agencies, local leaders, other Federal Agencies, and the philanthropic sector, the N.E.A. supports arts learning and economic opportunities for IATSE members in all 435 Congressional Districts across the nation.

To highlight the importance of the N.E.A., the I.A.T.S.E. has cooperatively supported the American’s for the Arts’ Advocacy Day. If your Local wishes to participate in this upcoming Advocacy Day, March 12th-13th 2018 you can Register Here.
Please contact the IATSE Political/Legislative Department if your Local intends to send members to Washington D.C. for Arts Advocacy Day.

I.A.T.S.E. members have a unique message for Federal Lawmakers about the vital role our Union plays in their industries’ success and raise important issues affecting them as Union professionals in the arts and entertainment industries.
