Stagehands Local 2 Journeymen & Apprentice Training Fund
Stagehands Local 2 deals with unique challenges in developing and maintaining skill
sets necessary to perform our work in a safe and efficient manner. Our industry
requires us to operate cutting edge technologies in every facet of our craft and
the diversity and depth of skills we must possess in order to be effective is well
beyond that of most other trades.
The changes from analogue to digital audio, conventional to intelligent lighting,
static scenery to automation and the growing use of motorized and computer driven
rigging demanded a rigorous program to train new stagehands and allow current members
to maintain and upgrade their skills.
In 2008 Local 2 founded the Stagehands Local 2 Journeymen & Apprentice Training
Fund or JATF. The JATF is a multi-employer trust that is jointly managed by a board
composed of employer and union trustees. The JATF has a curriculum which has led
to over 200 ETCP Certifications in Electric, Arena and Theatre Rigging. The JATF
has also hosted classes which have led to 100's of OSHA Certifications, personnel lift licenses and scaffolding certifications. Additional courses include
training on the latest audio and lighting consoles along with workshops on virtually
every discipline in our craft.
Upcoming Training:
Lift Training
Intro to Theater Training
Scaffolding Certification Training
Mental Health First Aid Training
Audio Training
